The Salaam Cafe
Salam means peace in Arabic. The Salaam Cafe was initially set up at SOAS university in 2011with the SOAS Spiritual Dialogue Society with the intention of occupying spaces in London with peace, dhikr, tea and a much-needed wave of spirituality.
Our ‘Dhikr’ of Love series consists of monthly dhikr (remembrance) sessions from different Sufi traditions. A gathering open to all faith and beliefs. A space for all.
Once a year we put on our Salaam Cafe: Story of the Beloved UK tour which) takes you on a journey through the life of the Prophet Muhammed ( PBUH) from his birth to the hijrah through a fusion of traditional Arabic Qassaid, Urdu naats and English devotional songs interwoven with storytelling, poetry, and rap.
"Never be without remembrance of Him, for His remembrance gives strength and wings to the bird of the Spirit. If that objective of yours is fully realized, that is “Light upon Light”… –
Jelaluddin Rumi
